Latinas Contra Cancer holds its major annual fundraising event, the Walk Against Cancer, to raise awareness in the Latino community around issues of cancer. Talking about cancer won't kill us, the silence will. We confront this deadly disease very publicly to give support and inspire hope.

This is also an opportunity for sponsors who want to support the Latino community.

May 09, 2010

8am-Noon
This year we spotlight Breast Cancer in the Latino community. Some Latina women are getting breast cancer at a younger age in their 40's and mid 30's. We need to raise awareness early and often, given the recent changes in breast cancer screening guidelines that won't provide free screenings for low income until age 50 and older. We are recommending that Latinas from 26 years of age and up do their self-exams monthly,  know your family history and any risk factors,  and report your concerns to a doctor.
