Prevention & Outreach
Latinas Contra Cancer is raising awareness about cancer in the Latino community, increasing access to quality care, working to decrease mortality rates and improving the quality of the health care experience.
The World Health Organization reports that at least one-third of all cancer cases are preventable. Working to increase physical activity, adjusting the diet, quitting smoking, and reducing exposure to occupational or environmental carcinogens, are important steps to diminishing the likelihood of a cancer diagnosis.
Latinas Contra Cancer (LCC) educates the Latino community using a culturally appropriate model that is linguistically sensitive. LCC approaches prevention education by teaching agencies and individuals how to reduce cancer risk. Learn more about health bingo.
